Portraits

A portrait offers something photography alone can’t — a quiet permanence, a sense of presence.

Each piece I create is an original work of art, painted with care to capture not just a likeness but the essence of a person - their mood, spirit and individuality.

Whether it’s a single figure or a shared moment between loved ones, a portrait becomes a lasting record of connection — something to be treasured now and by future generations.

All portraits are created in my Somerset studio, on the beautiful Somerset Levels. If you’d like to know more about my process or discuss a commission, please get in touch.

Captured In Paint

Alongside wedding portraits, I also create paintings to mark other meaningful moments — from christenings and anniversaries to graduations, birthdays, or simply a romantic gift for someone special.

Each commission is approached with the same care and attention, resulting in a piece that feels personal and timeless — a lasting reminder of life’s most cherished occasions.

Customer reviews

I create paintings to mark many meaningful moments…

Every portrait begins with a conversation — an opportunity to discuss your ideas, the subject, and the mood you’d like the painting to convey.

From there, I’ll work from carefully chosen reference photographs, or a sitting in person. My aim is always to create a piece that captures the unique character and atmosphere of the moment.

I’ll guide you through each stage of the process: selecting the composition, agreeing on size and medium, and providing an estimated timescale and quotation. Once underway, I keep in touch with progress updates and will share an image of the finished work for your approval, before framing and delivery.

Whether it’s a detailed oil painting or a smaller pastel study, each commission is created using the same archival materials I use for my gallery work — ensuring your painting will last for generations.

The Commission Process

Testimonials

"When we first started to look at commissioning a portrait of my wife Gill to celebrate her 60th birthday I researched various artists. It soon became clear Tina's dedication to female portraiture, attention to detail and the realism of her artwork was exactly what we were looking for. Tina's work shows a real feel for the subject and we felt after viewing her body of work that she would be able to catch not only Gill's likeness but that specific look of introspection. Tina worked with us throughout the process and we provided detailed photographs and even sent across the original wedding dress so she could see the pattern in detail and actually feel the texture.
We were not disappointed with the final result catching that moment in time with absolute perfection. Tina's portrait of Gill is celebrated by our family and friends and the beauty of such an intimate commission will hopefully be viewed by the generations of our family to come"

“I have been searching for a special piece of art for over 17 years and when I discovered Tina I instantly knew I had found my artist. Tina is very approachable and friendly, astoundingly talented yet very modest. She has listened carefully to my ideas and guided me so that she could create the panting I had envisaged. Spending time in Tina’s studio discussing models, poses and fabrics has been the most exciting time for me. Then watching my painting come to life has been an amazing experience. She is now hanging in a place of honour above my mantel piece – the only problem being that I am not getting much work done as I keep stopping to gaze at her!”

“As far as being an artists model, I learned that it is not quite as hard as I expected, except for having to stay still for what seems like a very long time, though actually never more than an hour at a time.

Main worry I had was what I look like in an artist’s eyes. Tina was very considerate of my concerns, checking at each phase of the process that we were satisfied. Certainly a very thoughtful, thorough and perfectionist worker and I must say I love the result.”
