I love that moment beside the sea when the weather begins to turn and the whole atmosphere shifts with it. In this piece, it was the stillness of the figure within that change that caught me. There’s something about the way she’s standing there, looking out, that makes it feel like a private moment, although we don’t know what’s behind it. I wanted the landscape to carry the mood around her while leaving her story open.
